Jessica Kaye was born in Johannesburg, South Africa, raised in Minneapolis, MN, and attended Harvard University.
After college, Jessica worked in New York City as an actress in film, theater and television. In 2007, she founded the performance collaborative, Spectrebox and created, performed in and produced several multi-media performance events and a music video for the New York band, The Kin. In 2008, she produced and starred in a SAFTA (South African Film and Television) Award nominated short film Gargoyle, that was filmed on location in Johannesburg.
A recipient of the Samuel and Lorenza Gary Memorial Award and the Harold C. Lloyd Foundation Scholarship, Jessica was awarded an MFA in Film Production from the USC School of Cinematic Arts in December of 2013.
This year, her short fiction film Angel played at several festivals including HollyShorts and the Myrtle Beach Film Festival. Her documentary Fabian Debora, A Life for Art has also screened at festivals around the country including Cinequest and the Napa Valley Film Festival. In addition, Jessica directed the branding video for one of Fast Company’s Top Ten Most Innovative Companies of 2014 - the fashion start-up Zady (www.zady.com), which launched in August of this past year.
Currently, Jessica is in post-production on the short film, Shortage, executive produced by James Franco. She is also in development on a feature about a young skater navigating the world of high level competitive figure skating, and an ensemble coming of age story set in Belize.
